In early 2013, Dr. Stephen Benning, the director of the Psychophysiology of Emotion and Personality Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, proposed that I design a logo for his psychology lab. He left the logo concept fairly open-ended, primarily because I’m his wife and it’s very difficult to design for your family. After working out some ideas in my sketchbook, I illustrated a few of his favorite designs. We went through several iterations of each logo concept, fine tuning the best ideas.
This logo was challenging due to the very long name of his lab. We decided to use the same colors as UNLV, a stylized humanoid shape, and a slightly rounded sans serif typeface, Brandon Grotesque.
